Central Europe, mid-18th century

Malleable iron. The bolt mechanism is concealed inside a rectangular case decorated with curving acanthus leaf tracery. Brass plate on the case adorned with a lattice of wrought bulbous acanthus leaves. Pierced, wrought support plate of intertwining acanthus and bulbs. Decorated with grooving.
